Big Grey Man

The Big Grey Man of Ben MacDui is the most well known folktale from the Cairngorms, made famous in 1925 by Professor Normal Collie. The prominent theory is that the Big Grey Man is created by Brocken Spectre. This is a meteorological phenomenon which only occurs when an inversion (or gaps in the cloud) allow the viewer to see their own shadow cast upon cloud.
