In Rothiemurchus, near Aviemore, it is believed that a long dead Chief of Clan Shaw still makes his presence known among the living. Local legend has it that people travelling through the forest encounter a tall, shadowy figure challenging them to a fight. Those who accepted were safe, those who showed terror were never to be seen again.
